Who’s Opening This Week in the Northwest

With the storms that arrived recently bringing snow to the mountains of the Pacific Northwest the 2016-2017 winter season has begun.   Several resorts will open for the holiday weekend and more could be opening soon.  Here is a rundown:  

WASHINGTON

Crystal Mountain will start the season on Friday, November 25 with the Gondola operating to mountaintop accessing skiing in Green Valley via the Green Valley high-speed quad chair. At the base, the Discovery beginner chair will also open. Rental equipment, Snow Sports School and restaurants (Summit House, Cascade Grill and the Bullwheel) will be open. Mt Baker will be opening Friday November 25 out of the Heather Meadows Base Area with Chairs 1, 2 & 3 operating.  For more information go to the Mt. Baker website or contact Amy Trowbridge, amy@mtbaker.us or 360-734-6771. 

OREGON

Mt Bachelor is opening Friday, November 25 with only the Sunshine Accelerator operating. Easier terrain and a small set of rails will be in place. The West Village services will be open & available, with breakfast starting in Cocoa’s Cafe at 7:30 a.m. and the sales center & season pass pick-up desk open by 8:30 a.m. The Nordic Center and Snowblast Tubing (walk-up only) will also open Friday. Timberline Lodge limited season opening began on Saturday November 19th with operations continuing through the Thanksgiving holiday week (Sunday, November 27).  Conditions permitting the Bruno’s and Palmer chairlifts will be operating 9 am to 4 pm.  For more details and conditions go to the Timberline website or contact John Burton, jburton@timberlinelodge.com, (503) 272-3345.

IDAHO

Silver Mountain will be open for Snow Tubing and Scenic Rides this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hours will be from 10am – 3pm and Snow Tubing Sessions are two hours long scheduled for 11am and 1pm. Many of the resorts in the Northwest are evaluating their current snow depths and watching the weather forecasts to determine when they will be opening.  PNSAA will send updates as more resorts announce their opening dates.  For the most up-to-date information on your favorite resort, please visit their website.
