What’s Open for the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend in the Northwest

La Conner, WA – The 2013-2014 winter season in the Pacific Northwest has begun with many resorts offering skiing and snowboarding opportunities for the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.  The weekend weather forecast is showing a possibility of snow in the mountains.  Good news for all skiers and snowboarders.   Here is a rundown of what is open:

Mt. Baker Ski Area is in seven-day-a-week operation.  For the Thanksgiving Holiday operations will be out of the White Salmon Base Area. On Friday, November 29 through Sunday, December 1 Mt Baker will be operating both the White Salmon and Heather Meadows base area with all eight chairlifts and both beginner handle tows running.  Also, all three day lodges will be open. Lookout Pass is operating on its normal schedule this time of the year – Thursday, November 28 through Monday, December 2.  The majority of the front side of the mountain is open from lifts 1 & 4, from 9-4pm PST on weekdays and 8:30-4pm PST weekends.  Lodge and other base facilities open at 8am. Mt Hood SkiBowl Snow Tube and Adventure Park at Skibowl East will be open Thanksgiving Day (November 28) from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Friday and Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm, and Sunday 10:00am to 4:00pm.  The operation includes the tube hill conveyor lift, indoor play structure, 800 foot long zipline and the Multorpor Lodge featuring a full service café and the 70 Meter Bar and Grill. Cosmic Tubing kicks off the season this coming Friday and Saturday from 6:00pm to 11:00pm. Alyeska Resort has announced the kickoff of the 2013-2014 season with opening day on Thursday, November 28 with chairlifts scheduled to be running from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Full base area services will be open, including Mountain Learning Center ski and snowboard school, rental shop and slopeside dining at the Sitzmark Bar & Grill. Silver Mountain Resort will be open for skiing, boarding, tubing, snowshoeing and scenic rides Friday November 29th through Sunday December 1st. The first gondola will load at 8:15am, skiing and tubing will operate 9:00am until 4:00pm. Schweitzer Mountain Resort re-opens on Friday, November 29 through Sunday, December 1.  Basin Express Quad and Musical Chairs lifts will operate from 9am – 3:30pm, and the amount of terrain open will depend on conditions. Schweitzer will close Monday through Thursday and then re-open for daily operations on Friday, December 6. Mt Hood Meadows will operate Friday, November 29 through Sunday, December 1. Meadows will run four lifts from 9 AM – 4 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday this holiday weekend.
