The Future of Snow and Ice: Looking for certainty in an uncertain future

Dr. Anders Carlson will examine the methods used to project future climate and its impact on snowfall and snowpack. Topics will include the limitations of global climate models but also how these imperfect tools can still provide useful information on future snowpack and its surrounding climate that will impact ski area operations. The focus will be on Pacific Northwest snowpack as this behaves differently from continental snowpack and is fortunately more predictable than the snow of North America’s interior.
